Design a Sofa for the Sofa Company!
Deadline extended through February!
Submission Deadline: February 28, 2012
ASID UCLA Extension Student Chapter is partnering with The Sofa Company for a sofa design competition! They have seen some great submissions, but we know there are more out there! They are looking for a new and exciting customized sofa to add to its exclusive collection of inventory.
Where better to find great, up-and-coming designers than the UCLA Extension Interior Architecture Program? This competition is open to all students enrolled in the program. The top 3 designs will be selected and a "vote off' will be initiated on The Sofa Company Facebook page to decide the winner. The voting will be open to the general public, so the more friends and classmates you tell, the better! This is an exciting opportunity to create a new look for The Sofa Company that will be produced and carried at all five of their showroom locations. In addition, the winning student will have the opportunity to name their sofa as well as have their photo and bio on their website promoting their design!
This is an incredible opportunity, a wonderful addition to any portfolio, and an opportunity to see your creation come to fruition!

Sonna Calandrino was a specialist in the floor covering industry and one of its leading figures. For 30 years, she was involved at the highest levels with manufacturers and trade associations in the areas of marketing, retailing, advertising, PR and merchandising and in developing, organizing and hosting special events. In 2006, Sonna Calandrino was named to the list of Top 20 Women in the flooring industry by "Floor Covering News" in its 20th Anniversary Edition.
Sonna was adamant about becoming an Industry Partner and devoted time, money and more than $10,000 in product and related contributions to the ASID Education Initiatives. In every issue of the magazine she either wrote about or referenced ASID and promoted the true value of a professional designer. Often she and her staff reached out to ASID for authors to provide bylined articles.
