NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification)
The core purpose of NCIDQ is to protect the health, life safety and welfare of the public by establishing standards of competence in the practice of interior design.
The National Council for Interior Design Qualification serves to identify to the public those interior designers who have met the minimum standards for professional practice by passing the NCIDQ Examination.
NCIDQ continually updates the examination to reflect expanding professional knowledge and design development techniques. NCIDQ seeks the acceptance of its examination as a universal standard by which to measure the competency of interior designers to practice as professionals.
NCIDQ has six suggested eligibility routes that you can use to determine when you are eligible to apply to take the exam. UCLA Extension students fall under Route 3.
Work experience requirements vary depending on when you started accruing interior design work experience. If you started accruing interior design work experience after January 1, 2008, visit http://www.ncidq.org/pdf/QualifiedWorkExperinece.pdf for information on how to earn qualified work experience.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
LEED Professional Accreditation
In 2008, administration of the Professional Accreditation program transitioned to the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). USGBC continues to provide support to aspiring and current LEED APs and LEED Green Associates through education, study and reference materials, and other resources that help you gain the understanding of LEED you will need to become a LEED Professional, as well as support GBCI's credentialing maintenance requirements.
